true athelite® Founder Andrew Arcangel is a basketball enthusiast with an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit.  Throughout his life, he wore sportswear made by various brands, but was never satisfied with what was available.  He had sneakers that left blisters on his feet and socks that got toe holes after only one workout.  When striving to reach your highest potential, even the smallest issues can keep you from performing at your best.  And when it’s the 4th quarter, the last thing you need to be worrying about is holes in your socks.  Arcangel founded true athelite® so that he could make the small improvements to sportswear that make the biggest differences to athletes.

In 2011, Arcangel founded true athelite® while studying finance, entrepreneurship, and business administration at Fordham University.  As a self-starter, he co-founded the Fordham University Entrepreneurship Society, of which he was the first executive vice president.  Upon graduating from Fordham in 2011, he received the Fordham University Entrepreneurship Award, which is awarded annually to the graduate who has demonstrated the highest level of academic excellence, leadership, and commitment in the field of entrepreneurship.  Since graduating, he has been featured in the Fordham University calendar, has given lectures on entrepreneurship, and was recognized as a notable alumnus in Fordham Magazine.  From 2011 to 2012, he attended Columbia University for graduate school to study marketing.  In 2012, he established True Athelite, LLC and officially launched true athelite® on July 23, 2012.

In 2013, Arcangel was named as an Under30CEO 2012 Rookie of the Year, an honor given annually to the top 10 most accomplished rookie (first-time and first-year) CEOs under 30 years old in the US.

In 2015, he was awarded a Medal of Distinction in Entrepreneurship by Golden Globe Philippines, which recognizes Filipino business owners worldwide who exhibit outstanding and significant achievement in entrepreneurship.

In 2017, he and his true athelite® business partner, Daniel Huang, were honored with the George Washington University – Business Gives Back | Student Initiative Award. The award highlights a GWU student-owned business that has made the most positive impact on its local communities.

Through true athelite®, Arcangel has carried out the company’s mission “To inspire and cultivate excellence.” Focusing on education and youth outreach, Arcangel has created programs such as the true athelite® Straight A’s Report Card Program, which rewards students with discounts on true athelite® products for good grades, and has partnered with various organizations to foster programs catered to keep local youth focused on sports and education and off the streets.

Since launching true athelite®, Arcangel has helped NYC youth gain over $250,000 in scholarships and financial aid through partnerships with various youth sports organizations and programs, such as Unsigned Hype.

Arcangel strives to grow true athelite® into a leading, global sportswear brand and use its success to promote, create, and manage various non-profit initiatives to improve peoples’ lives in areas such as disease research and education.
